my photography

Fujifilm S602Zoom camera Since getting a digital camera (a Fujifilm S602Zoom) in October 2003, my interest in photography has been revived and I have been enjoying this new (to me) medium.

Apart from taking the inevitable family snapshots, I really enjoy photographing the ocean – specially on a windy or stormy days.

Below are some thumbnail images which link to larger versions of each image (some are around 130kB so make take a while to load if you have a dial-up connection). The quality of the thumbnails does not do the images justice, and even the larger on-line versions of these images are not as good as the fullsize originals.

The last image in this section was taken in the Blue Mountains at Katoomba, NSW, Australia. With all modesty, I think the original of this photo is equal in quality to the majority of commercial photographs taken of the rock formation known as the “Three Sisters” (the on-line version of all of these images have been compressed to make them load faster so the quality of them has suffered a little).

Some of the other images were taken on December 8, 2003 at Soldiers Point near Norah Head, NSW, Australia (about 100km north of Sydney). We were fortunate to be there just after some storms and the surf was up and there were some angry clouds still scudding about. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

My 35mm camera is an old Canon T70 which includes a gadget bag full of zoom lenses, flash units, tripods, etc – so much stuff now hardly used.

People in these photographs are my two grandchildren, Jessica and Aaron, my wife Margaret, and my son Richard (father to Jessie and Aaron).

In most cases, the only manipulation carried out on these pictures in the computer was to straighten them so that the horizon was level (I tend to give them a 1° lean to starboard, a habit I am trying to break myself of).
