who I am

Hi! I’m Graham Pockett, a committed Christian and computer nut (the wife’s description – better than ‘nerd’ or ‘geek’ I suppose). I’m glad you called in to say “G’Day” to a sixth generation dinkum Aussie (in the Australian vernacular, a genuine Australian).

I am 69 years of age, happily married (for over 43s years!) with two adult married children, 8½ grandchildren, and while I have officially retired, am still working part-time on the Internet looking after various Websites. If you are interested in what computer software and hardware I run you can find out here.

Genealogy? If you are interested in genealogy you can view my family tree here (over 4,000 pages, plus the GEDCOM file!). Please don’t direct any genie enquires to me, but to my brother John who is into these things and who created the GEDCOM file these pages are based off.

As a magazine journalist, I edited one of Australia’s largest circulation hobbyist magazines. I still do some freelance writing and I also write articles and short stories.

I collect free software (no, not pirated commercial or ‘not-paid-for’ shareware) and edit the Completely FREE Software site which lists some excellent Windows & DOS freeware.

CFS (as it is affectionately known) is arguably the best site in the world offering genuinely free and legal software. It was established in 1996 and includes software archives that go back to the early 1980s.

I also edit Anointed Christian Links and I hope you’ll take the time to check out that site as well. ACL is a portal that will open up thousands of non-commercial Christian sites to you.

To qualify my beliefs, I am not someone who is a Christian by name only but someone who lives by what I believe (that Jesus died to save us all). Christianity is not something I do, or even a code by which I live – rather the Lord Jesus Christ is someone I know personally, my Master, and someone whom I am happy to serve.

I am a Christian – 25 hours per day, eight days per week, 53 weeks per year. Yes, I am a committed Christian. I am also quite normal in other aspects as well. I don’t have two heads, nor do I bail up little old ladies in shopping centres to ram my beliefs down their throats. I understand that in the original Greek, the witnessing referred to in the Bible really means “to show by example”, rather than to door knock or in any other way infringe on other people’s rights and/or beliefs (however wrong you or I may think they are). The Lord gave us freedom of choice – and that also means the freedom to choose not to live in His grace.

You can read my testimonies (two posted) on my church page, and a selection of my Christian writing on my writing page.

If you are not a Bible-believing, fully committed Christian, then I urge you to give yourself fully to the Lord and repent of your sins (we are all sinners, you’re not on your own there). If you feel you aren’t worthy to face your Lord then I strongly suggest you check out The Key – and then get reading the Word of God, the Holy Bible.

If I can help in any way with your walk with the Lord – and specially if you need prayer for healing – then please don’t hesitate to e-mail me NOW! The life you save will be your own.

Graham’s Christian writing:
"Graham Pockett doesn't mince any words, but he writes with a kind heart. If you have questions about such things as "once saved, always saved", or why so many different ideas can come from the same scripture, or how much what we see and do affects us as spiritual beings, you'll find much to think about here."  from This Christian Life
